Reporting a problem

Three things make a problem far quicker to fix. If you can include them, please do:

A screenshot is welcome. Please check it does not show anything you would rather not send — amounts, addresses and merchant names are all fair game to blur.

Common questions

My records are not showing on my other device

Both devices need to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on for CactusAdmin, and syncing needs a network connection on both. iCloud Drive does not need to be on. First sync after installing can take a minute or two. If it still has not appeared, check Settings → your name → iCloud on each device and make sure CactusAdmin is switched on.

I deleted the app. Is my data gone?

No, if iCloud sync was on. Deleting the app removes the copy on that device; your records stay in your own iCloud account and sync back a few seconds after you reinstall and open the app. Attachments come back with them.

How do I get my data out?

Any list with records in it can export to CSV, and the export follows whatever you have searched or filtered on screen — so you can export a single financial year, one property, or the lot. The file goes to the standard iOS share sheet, so you can email it, save it to Files, or send it straight to your accountant.

Can I import a CSV back in?

Not at the moment. The export is a readable archive of your records, not a restore path. Your working backup is iCloud sync, which is what puts your records on more than one device and brings them back after a reinstall.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no password and no email address to hand over. The app asks for a display name for the dashboard greeting and confirms your tax region, and that is all.

Why is a receipt showing under a bill instead of in Receipts?

A file attached to a utility bill or vehicle expense belongs to that record, so it appears under that property or vehicle rather than cluttering the Receipts list. The Receipts list holds receipts you entered in their own right, plus anything you have flagged as a tax expense.

Something is missing that I would find useful

Please say so. A small app changes direction easily and requests from people actually using it are the most useful thing that arrives in the inbox.
